WIT’s Women of the Year Technology Awards celebrate female visionaries of technology, ground breakers in business and remarkable leaders who make a difference in our community.

Award winners will be announced at the WIT Awards Gala October 2023.

Nominations will close May 26th, 2023 at 11:59PM EST.

The 2023 WIT Girl of The Year award will be presented to a young woman with exemplary achievement and dedication to STEAM studies.  She is fully engaged in the WIT program, attentive, actively participates and encourages others.  Her participation in the WIT Programs and STEAM academics should create a lasting and positive impression on the WIT sponsors and mentors.  She must:

• Be a registered member of the WIT Girls program (Middle and High School)
• Demonstrate interest in STEAM fields
• Demonstrate leadership in STEAM-related activities
• Acts as a role model or shows how they are giving back
• Must have attended at least two WIT Girls program events in 2022-2023
• Georgia must be your primary residence
• Currently enrolled in a Georgia school as a Junior or Senior
• Complete the WIT Girls: GOTY application (including essay questions and a copy of latest report card by deadline)
• Good academic standing GPA 3.0 or higher
• Must be available for promotional WIT opportunities. WIT understands each girl will have limitations that may interfere with her commitment
• The WIT Girl of the Year will become an ambassador of the WIT Girls program, advocating for girls in STEAM
• Parent or guardian must sign the WIT Girls: GOTY Application and agree that the girl's image and name can be used by WIT for promotional purposes
• Must submit 1 recommendation from a guidance counselor and/or teacher and 1 recommendation from a peer. These must be submitted to Chief Marketing & Program Officer Paula Bolton at pbolton@mywit.org on a school letterhead. Peer Recommendation Guidelines: Introduce yourself in the first few lines and describe your relationship with the nominee. Explain qualifications and skills which lead you to believe the nominee should be the WIT Girl of the Year. Give examples of situations when the candidate impressed you and showed strong character or leadership skills.

Evaluation Criteria

A selection committee comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds will review nomination applications and get them down to the top rated and ranked nominees. A panel of distinguished judges will evaluate top nominees and select the recipients for each of the awards.
